Awards night

~sorry these pictures are kind of blurry...my camera has a hard time focusing on small objects~

UVU held an awards night tonight that was really fun! They have done this the past couple of years and everyone dresses up, student athletes are nominated for different awards and recognition and then we get together and have dinner and the awards are given out. Josh was actually one of the athletes that was asked to come up and hand out an award to the Teachers of the semester- he does such a good job on stage (and is pretty good lookin when he cleans up).
This year Josh got nominated for the Wilson Sorensen Spirit of Sport's award as well as the Athletic Service award (which he was awarded last year). I am so proud of Josh because this really is a big deal- you first have to get nominated out of the whole athletic departement and then to actually receive the award is a great accomplishment because there are so many deserving athletes at UVU.
This year Josh actually won the Wilson Sorenson Spirit of Sports award which is "For the athlete who best exemplifies the spirit of sportsmanship and teamwork; who are willing to put the team ahead of themselves; who are willing to sacrifice for the good of the team and who value the true meaning of good sportsmanship."

To have a husband that respects the game enough to have good sportsmanship and teamwork and puts the team ahead of himself is a good sign for other life events. :) It makes me excited for when we are able to have a family on this earth to see how he interacts with our children. I don't know why but tonight I really missed Mac... alot. I kept thinking that he would probably be a lot like Josh- outgoing, selfless, friendly, good public speaker, motivated, and team oriented (well not right now, but when he grew up). He would probably be an athlete because Josh and I both love sports so much and would have won awards and we would have gone to recognition nights, and all of that fun boy stuff you get to do. I really was sad that I was going to miss that with Mac.

I feel like every day something new hits me, that is hard and hurts and makes me wish I just had my little guy to hold and snuggle with. I always just want to kiss his cute little nose and tickle those long feet. He would be 10 months old in less than a week and in so many ways it has gone by insanely slow...but it has also gone by fast! I have a 10 months old little boy that is so perfect in every single way. So I have a favor to ask...those of you that have kids- will you give them a kiss on their nose and a huge hug for me? :) You have to love every moment you have with them because you never know when that will end.

~ps. Monday and Tuesday are Josh's last home games...forever! and Tuesday is Senior night. If anyone wants to come we'd love to have you!! Thanks to all that have supported Josh and I through baseball the past 3 seasons!~

Cali I just came across your blog from someone else's from school and I just wanted to let you know how touched I am by your family's story. You and Josh amaze me in so many ways and I know I personally would not be able to stay as strong and positive as you are. You are absolutely beautiful and are so blessed to have Mac be a part of your life. You deserve only the best!!!

Hi Cali! I'm Jessica Madsen's friend...and I've commented lots of times on here before. I wanted to tell you that I loved your post about Josh. I let Matthew, my son, read it last night...and he was so proud of Josh. He thinks so much of him because of how he has always treated him. He has something for you guys...and he's taking it to the game tonight. We had it made a long time ago, but when we saw on Baby Mac's blog that you already had one very simillar....Matthew was embarrassed to give it to Josh. Today he said he'd rather give it to him, so he knows he hasn't forgotten about Mac. :o) When you wrote about it being 10 months....I couldn't believe it has been that long. My kids STILL talk about him and they weren't even family. We all felt a bond w/you guys, I think, because of the blog and the emotional and spiritual story. I've still had friends of mine find your blog and Mac's blog off of my link to Erin's on mine. He is still continuing to touch people's lives...and you and Josh are continuing to inspire people, too. You guys are such amazing people. I hope I can meet you someday....because I would really love to thank you, personally, for the way you've reminded me how precious my time w/my children is. (even if they're being crazy, silly, and naughty. :o)) What you wrote about Josh and the type of person he is was exactly how my son talks about him. He wrote Josh a note to give to him at the baseball game tonight....and he has a ball for him to autograph. :o) I hope my son continues to love baseball and be a good sport and teammate like Josh....but I hope, most importantly, that he grows up to be a wonderful and generous human being like Josh. I don't think Josh even realizes the impact he's had on Matthew. He told me today that he thinks it's so cool that BOTH of his sports idols are first baseman and lefties....and realy good guys. He said his sports idols are Lou Gehrig and Josh. :o) I hope the games go well for the Wolverines this week...and for the rest of their season. Best of luck to you guys in your new adventures, after baseball. Take care and know that we're sending lots of love your way through our thoughts and prayers! :o)

Why is it that I can't come on your blog without shedding a tear. We love you guys... so much... and Josh... THANK YOU.. Thanks so much for putting up with those 2 little Madsen boys that lived for "riding with Josh" after every game! I keep telling Eric you need to stick around for next season and just be present. The Wolverines will miss you... my boys will miss you... but the Madsen's... we won't miss you because I am hoping that we are friends for Life!!! Luv you guys!
